Guides - brought to you by Volunteers

At Guides we value all kinds of time commitments from our volunteers. Contribute what you can, when you can.

Guiding Helps Empower Girls
For an entire century Girl Guides Australia has been helping thousands of girls and young women develop positive personal values, self-confidence and leadership skills. This achievement is in direct response to the thousands of women who have led, supported and encouraged these girls.

Who are our Volunteers?
Girl Guides South Australia’s adult volunteers are the backbone of Guiding. All of our volunteers are dedicated and motivated individuals who want to make a difference by making a personal contribution to the community.

They are often women who:
• Have careers
• Are students wanting work experience
• Want to give back to the community
• Have family and other commitments.

Adult volunteers play an important role in facilitating the Australian Guide Program. Throughout their journey in Guiding, Guides look to our adult volunteers as role models and mentors.

No matter how much time you have to give or the skills you have to offer, there is a volunteer role at Girl Guides South Australia to suit you.

Don’t Forget the Fun!
Most of our volunteers are full-time workers, parents and/or students, who enjoy Guiding as a way of giving back to the community, but also as an important, fulfilling and FUN social activity.

Any adult volunteer will tell you that they love sharing the fun and excitement of Guiding with other members (youth and adult), and experiencing the special friendship and sense of community that Guiding brings.

What are the Rewards?
There are many rewards from being an adult volunteer with Guides. There are opportunities for:

  • personal development

  • formal trainings and skill development

  • having lots of fun

  • extensive networks of lasting and fulfilling friendships

  • development of leadership skills

  • travel opportunities through representing their State and/or country at national
    and international events.

Listed here are some of the volunteer roles available within Guides. To consider which might suit you, read through the role descriptions which follow.
